President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo have both conveyed their condolences to the family and the Somali people on the death of veteran Colonel Osman Mohamed Jelle.

According to a statement carried on Villa Somalia, President Mohamud said the former military maestro worked tirelessly for the Somali Federal government for many years.

“Colonel Osman worked with the government from the regime of Siad Barre to the later governments and served his nation to his full potential, I pray to Allah and ask him to grant him paradise (Jannah)”Mohamud said.

On his part Farmaajo said Jelle was a distinguished civil servant who worked for the Somali Central government since the Presidency of Siyad Barre.

The former Livestock Minister who passed on in Melbourne, Australia also served as the former mayor of Mogadishu.

He also worked with several diplomats.

Col. Osman was born in 1938 near a village in Jalalaqsi District of Hiiraan Region, Hirshabelle State.

The Ex- military man later secured a scholarship from the Egyptian Government.
