The family of missing Kenyan scholar Abdiwahab now claims that Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has ordered the abduction of their kin.
Speaking to the media at their home in South C Nairobi, the wife of the missing scholar Halima Mohamed and his sister Faiza Sheikh Abdisamad alleged that they received reliable information that PM Roble gave directives on the abduction of Abdiwahab.
“Abdiwahab has been missing for four days, and we have received information that an order from the office of Prime Minister Mohamed Roble has caused him to be abducted,” Halima Mohamed said.
“It is official that the office of the Prime Minister is involved in Abdiwahab’s case. If Abdiwahab is harmed, Roble will take responsibility,” added Halima.
Faiza echoed a similar sentiment noting PM Roble had ordered the abduction of her brother.
“We have been informed that Roble’s office has requested for the arrest of Prof. Abdiwahab, and we did not expect that because Abdiwahab is not interested in Somalia’s politics; he is a man who wants Somalia’s unity,” said Faiza.
Before his disappearance, Prof.Abdiwahad talked about the current standoff pitting between President Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on the case of the missing female spy agent Ikran Tahlil Farah which resulted in suspensions and appointments by both Farmajo and Roble.
Whoever is exploiting the plight of this respectful mam must stop. The Tahlil Family must be allowed 2 mourn quietly & peacefully. Whoever cares about the bereaved family must visit them & help them emotionally & financially. Don't coach a mam, who lost part of her, 2 rip others. pic.twitter.com/ov8SSDWZvS

Critics however say Prof Abdiwahab was a close supporter of the outgoing Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo though Frontier Online cannot independently verify the assertions.
Northern Kenya leaders Led by Wajir Senator Abdullahi Ali Kabreta yesterday held a press conference in Nairobi to demand the immediate unconditional release of Abdiwahab terming his kidnapping as blatant contravention of the rights of a person and freedom of speech.
Senator Abdullahi queried how someone can be abducted in broad daylight in the city center saying it is unheard of especially in a country such as Kenya where there are established laws and regulations governing the state.
The Senator said that he asked several statements in the chambers of the Senate concerning the scourge of a number of people being abducted in the country and regretted that no one from the government is reluctant to give statements on such cases on the floor of Parliament.
“I am urging the security agencies to come out clean of this issue and bring back Prof.Abdiwahab as soon as possible,” said Kabreta.
Wajir West MP Ahmed Kholosh on his part said that Abdiwahab case is not an isolated one and there are people who have been abducted in the same scenario and appealed to the government to produce Abdiwahab immediately.
Moreover, Kholosh explained that why as leaders they did not hold a press conference before because they were giving time and engaging the relevant government authorities on the kidnapping of Abdisamad but failed to get credible answers.
“So the assumption that any other person cannot pass, it is the government who must protect the lives and property of the citizens,” said Kholosh.
Leaders and the business communities from the Coastal region also convened a meeting to deliberate on the abduction of prof. Abdiwahab.
The leaders asked the government to trace and bring back Abdiwahab alive so as to relieve his family off from the agony and trauma they are undergoing.
Mombasa County Senator Mohamed Faki termed the kidnapping of Abdiwahab as inhumane and pleaded with the government to release statements on the whereabouts of the scholar and elaborate on whether it is in their custody or has fallen into the hands of belligerent groups.
Speaking on the sideline the business community leaders applauded the unrelenting efforts by Northern Kenya leaders to demanding answers from the government circumstances under which the Horn of Africa analyst was abducted and unveiled their solidarity with the family of the missing educationist.
It is six days since Prof.Abdiwahad was abducted from the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) by four men who were aboard a white double-cabin pick-up who accosted him and bundled him into the car and speed off.
Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti has since launched an investigation into the mysterious abduction of the missing Somali scholar.
