MOGADISHU– Somalia and China are seeking to bolster their cooperation in areas mutually beneficial to the two countries.
This came out in a meeting between Somalia’s Federal government Minister of Commerce and Industry Jibril Abdirashid Haji and Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Fei Shengchao
The two officials who held meeting in the National capital Mogadishu on Monday came into a consensus on exploring collaboration in a bid to promote and enhance the Economic and Trade cooperation between the two countries.
The State News Agency reported that the officials underscored the importance of Somali and Chinese businesses whilst acknowledging the immense potential between the two sides.
According to a statement posted on the Twitter handle of the Chinese Embassy in Somalia, the two agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and exchanged views on how to beef up the commercial exchanges between the two Nations.

Minister Jibril disclosed the progress made by the Somali government in streamlining trade processes and improving the business environment in the country and highlighted initiatives to attract global investment.

On his part, Ambassador Fei Shengchao lauded Somalia government efforts in creating an enabling environment for trade and investment stressing China’s readiness to collaborate with Somalia in various fields, particularly in agriculture sector where Chinese expertise and technology will be deployed to enhance productivity and ensuring food security in the Horn of Africa Nation.

Chinese government has been involved in helping rebuild the Somalia, a country reeling from decades of mayhem and insecurity.
The country in the East Asia has build its longest highway, constructed hospitals and other important facilities for the Somali people and has been entangled in the enhancement of infrastructure, State- building process and humanitarian aid.
Somalia maintains an Embassy in Beijing while China has an Embassy in Mogadishu.
