SOUTH AFRICA– Somali Minister for Foreign Affairs Abshir Omar Jamaa has on Thursday held meeting with the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa and other leaders during a night of collaboration and friendship at BRICS Summit Gala Dinner.
They engaged in wide range of discussion including strengthening ties for mutual growth and prosperity between the two countries.
The Minister shared with President Ramaphosa the great strides made by the Somali Federal government in different sectors including economy, political and institutional development.
He also pinpointed to the Head of State the progress achieved in fighting with Al-Shabab militant group who have been wrecking havoc in the Horn of Africa Nation for decades.
President Ramaphosa thanked the Minister for the meeting and assured his administration unwavering commitment to support Somalia in different facets primarily in the war against terror.
He also highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between the two countries so as to benefit the citizens from both Nations.
South Africa hosts one of the largest number of Somali Nationals who have fled their home country due to the political turmoil and humanitarian crises that ripped the East African country apart for virtually three decades.
Also, most of the Somali business men in South Africa have become victim for xenophobic attacks which has led to killing of many of the Somali citizens.
