Uganda president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has threatened to pull out his soldiers from Somalia if the ongoing wrangles between President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble are not resolved.
In an exclusive interview with France 24, Museveni described the infighting between the two top leaders in the Horn of Africa’s country as “political AIDS”.
Museveni condemned the coup against Alpha Conde in Guinea, saying that the leaders of this coup should be punished and “expelled”. He also returned to his country’s relations with neighboring Rwanda, and distanced himself from Paul Kagame’s statements that he behaves like a lord of the region.
Uganda contributes a huge bulk of officers serving under the peace keeping “AMISOM”.
Leaders crisis continues to take a fresh twist after prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble sacked Hassan Hundubey Jimale as the internal security minister and appointed Abdullahi Mohamed Nur whose appointment was however disputed by president Farmajo who termed the decision by the prime minister as unconstitutional.
However, the new security minister took oath of office in a ceremony graced by Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble despite the Hundubey maintaining that he is still the security minister and won’t be coerced to hander over power without due process.
On Tuesday president Mohamed Farmajo appointed Yassin Abdullahi Mohamud as the new commander of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) after his predecessor Fahad Yassin was sacked by prime minister Mohamed Roble and named Bashir Mohamed Kobe to be the new head of the Intelligence Agency.

This whole squabble started after the disappearance of Ikran Tahlil Farah, a female Intelligence officer who the intelligence agency said was killed by Al-Shabaab militants who had abducted her a report dismissed by the prime minister who accused NISA of killing their own staff.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble had on Monday given the intelligence agency boss Fahad Yassin to submit a comprehensive report on the abduction and killing of the female spy agent but in a response Fahad Yassin requested for a security council meeting where he will give information on the murder of the Intelligence officer.
Somali security and military chiefs today held a meeting to discuss about the security situation in the capital Moqadishu amid Farmajo- Roble stand off that continues to sharpen.In the meeting president Farmajo’s appointee Yassin Abdullahi Mohamud attended whilst Roble’s Bashir Gobe gave a wide berth.
It remains to be seen whether the two leaders will soften their stands and come together and agree to work together for the betterment of the larger gullibe populace.
