JOWHAR-Two Hirshabelle State MPs in Somalia were injured and scores of other people also sustained wounds this morning after an explosion occurred at a tea joint in the city of Jowhar, lower Shabelle region.
The explosion whose effect was felt across the town of Jowhar was said to have been a landmine explosion planted in the area by unknown people.
According to eyewitnesses who spoke to journalists in the town, the two MPs of Hirshabelle State parliament were injured alongside a peace maker and several civilians in the roadside bomb.
The injured lawmakers have been formally identified as; Omar Gabow and Yussuf Abdiqani Karaani who were at the time of the incident said to have been taking tea in the area.
Police are reported to have taken over the scene as investigation into the motive behind the blast continues.
Al-Shabab militant group usually claims responsibility for attacks in Somalia but have not yet released a statement on their role in the landmine blast.
