WAJIR– National Government Administration Officers – (NGAO) led by North Eastern Regional Commissioner Mr. John Otieno and Wajir County Commissioner Mr. Karuku Ngumo Thursday convened security meeting with Wajir County leaders.
The meeting was attended by Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, Deputy governor Ahmed Muhumed and Wajir East MP Adan Daud.
Speaking to the press after attending the meeting, Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi said, today’s meeting is part continuing discussions with various stakeholders about enhancing security in Wajir County and safeguard people’s lives and property.
“We denounced the most recent Al-Shabab incident at Ogarale, Tarbaj constituency, which resulted in the death of one police reservist and the destruction of a telecommunications mast.” Said Governor Ahmed.

The meeting between NGAO officials and Wajir county leadership comes days after suspected Al-Shabab militant attacked ogarale village in Tarbaj constituency which resulted to the death of one police reservist and destruction of telecommunication mast.
Condemning the incident that happened in Ogarale, Area Member of parliament Hussein Abdi Bare condemned the incident and said that the government has deployed military choppers to follow up on the attackers hideout.
Early this week Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki hosted Wajir, Garissa and mandera leaders for a consultative meeting on the security situation in the region.
“Terrorism and cross-border crimes rank top in the list of national security threats, and the Government will continue to equip the multi-agency security officers with skills and equipment to deal with modern-day crime and forestall any incursion by the terror groups.” Said CS Kindiki.
Met and held consultations with leaders from Wajir and Mandera Counties on a raft of security matters.
