MOGADISHU-Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has returned to Moqadishu after three days of official state visit to Turkey where he attended the Turkey-Africa summit held in Istanbul between 17th and 18th.
The plane carrying the president accompanied by the first lady Zeinab Maalim and a host of delegation touched down at Adden Abdulla Airport this morning.
On the sidelines of the summit, president Farmajo met with his Turkish counterpart Rajab Dayab Erdogan where they discussed a range of issues built on the bilateral, economic, security, education and investments.
President Farmajo in the meeting conveyed the gains made by the Somali government in transforming the country in the various aspects of security, enhancing economy, fighting insurgency and development of infrastructure.
The two Head of States reiterated on the importance of strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and president Erdogan praised the tangible reforms the federal government of Somalia has made in the business sector.
President Farmaajo also met and interacted with Somali doctors on specialization training in Türkey, Istanbul where he encouraged them to continue with their work in revamping the health sector of the country.
The President termed the doctors as critical pillar towards improving and enhancing the national health sector & urged them to make good use of the opportunity offered to them through the Somali-Turkish brotherliness to building and revitalising the foresaken crucial health sector of the Horn of Africa State.
This even comes hot on the hools as the country struggle with holding elections which have been protested by stakeholders and council of opposition presidential candidates who have since boycotted the ongoing parliamentary elections terming them as shoddy and shambolic and one that lacks transparency.
The Turkey Africa summit which from 17th to 18th of this month brought together various Heads of States from Africa and featured on strengthening the bilateral, industrial, security, fighting poverty and economic relations between Turkey and Africa countries.
