NAIROBI- Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi on Tuesday held a meeting Ms. Yvonne Arunga the Country Director for Save the Children in Kenya and Madagascar.
Mr. Abdullahi Aden, Save the Children’s Programme Manager for Wajir County was also in attendance of the meeting.
Abdullahi lauded the organization for supporting the county on drought response efforts which he said had significant impact on many vulnerable families ravaged by the drought.
“I commend Save the Children for its drought intervention efforts which have so far had far-reaching impacts on many drought-affected families in various parts of Wajir.” said the governor.
He further said that the county is keen on fostering collaboration with international partners like Save the Children for enhanced access of the requisite assistance by families and children.
“The Wajir County Government looks forward to enhancing collaboration with partners like Save the Children Kenya for increased support to enable families and children access much-needed assistance.” added the governor.
Wajir county is among the counties to just have been severely ravaged by the ongoing devastating drought in the country that has claimed both the lives of Human and livestock.
The drought has also decimated crops and led to food insecurity and malnutrition among the children.
The former county administration called for an intervention of government and non-governmental entities in mobilization of resources in order to alleviate the impact of ongoing drought.
