MOGADISHU– The Federal government of Somalia and the World Health Organization have agreed to strengthen the cooperation between the two entities.
This revelation was hammered out of a meeting between Somalia’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister and International Cooperation the WHO’s country’s representative Mamunur Rahman Malik.
During the two discussed on how to bolster health services to the areas recently liberated by the Somali government forces from the outlawed Al-Shabab militant group.
Through a statement carried on his Twitter handle, Mr. Mursal highlighted the role of the global Health agency in supporting Somalia’s government to uplifting and enhancing the Health sector particularly in the towns wrestles from the grip of the insurgent outfit.

On his part, Mr. Rahman, the WHO envoy underscored the unwavering commitment by the organization in supporting the Somali government asserting that they will remain with the Somali people.

The UN agency has been at the forefront in helping the Somali people by providing critical health services including vaccination of children with acute viruses like polio and measles.
