MOGADISHU-The Mother of allegedly killed female intelligence officer Ikran Tahlil Farah has dismissed the report released on her daughter’s death by Somali government saying that the investigation were done in a hurried and shoddy manner.
On Sunday, the Attorney General of Somalia Gen. Abdullahi Bulle Kameey released a report on the abduction and killing of Ikran Tahlil that exonerated the National Intelligence Security Agency (NISA) from any involvement in the kidnapping and subsequent execution of the female intelligence officer.
Kameey said that IKran fell into the hands of the Al- Qaeda affiliate group Al-Shabaab and was afterwards murdered.
However, Al- Shabaab denied any links to the missing female intelligence officer and rubbished reports of their abduction and execution and instead accused top officials working for the Somalia National Intelligence of being behind her assassination.
Mrs.Qali termed the report as a concocted and manufactured one aimed at covering up the case and added that it was not based on facts.
Qali accused President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo of impeding into the investigation of the case of her daughter stating that the military court was the most appropriate government entity to investigate and bring a comprehensive report on the missing female spy agent.
The investigation team received a 38-page report from the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), detailing how Ikran allegedly fell into Al-Shabaab hands.
The report alleges a senior Al-Shabaab commander was ‘after’ her, source and was executed on July 14 th.But her mother believes she is alive. The investigation team took 18 days (Nov 3-21) to compile and reach a preliminary conclusion to absolve NISA officials from the murder of their colleague,Ikran Tahlil.
The probe will now shift to on how the militant group accessed the most fortified National Intelligence Headquarters and abducted the female intelligence officer.
Ikran Tahlil Farah went missing on June 26th and the Somalia intelligence agency later issued a statement after outcry from the family members and the public alluding that she was kidnapped by Al-Shabaab.
However, the government did not produce her body or adduced any evidence to the family that she was actually killed.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble sacked the then intelligence agency boss Fahad Yassin after he failed to submit a comprehensive report regarding the abduction of the female spy agent a decision that was however protested by president Mohamed Farmajo urging Fahad to continue discharging his duties.
The president later in a statement posted on Villa Somalia stated that he had accepted the resignation of Fahad Yassin as the NISA chief and appointed him as his National Security Advisor.
Fahad later last month took over the mantle from Abdisaid Muse Ali who was appointed as the Chief of Staff in a brief ceremony held at Villa Somalia barely days after being denied entry into the country allegedly by top Somalia government officials and detained in Djibouti by authorities in Djibouti.
After months of political stand-off that derailed and scuttled the elections Somalia president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on 21st October reached a truce to end their political differences after mediation talks spearheaded by South West regional State leader Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen held at Villa Somalia.
Key issue that ignited their squabble was the case of the allegedly slain female intelligence officer IKran Tahlil Farah.
President Farmajo appointed a commission of inquiry headed by the Attorney General to look into the case of IKran Tahlil while Prime Minister Roble wanted the military court to handle the case.
