MOGADISHU- 100 Somali special forces unit of Somali national army “Gorgor” have on Saturday evening arrived in the capital Mogadishu after months of rigorous training in Isparta, Turkey.
The special commandos trained by the Turkish Armed Forces were received at Adde Abdulle airport by Somalia’s National Army (SNA) infantry unit forces commander Mohamed Tahlil Bihi and senior government officials.
Military sources told the media that the elite troops will be deployed to various parts of the country and especially in border areas to neutralise the Al-Qaeda affiliate group Al-Shabaab who have been staging incessant attacks to topple the internationally backed federal government.
Turkey has been giving support to the Somali government by providing training to Somali government military in Abid to cope with the emerging trends of fighting and combatting with insurgency in the Horn of Africa Nation.
