GARISSA COUNTY- A Garissa court has sentenced a man to 20 years imprisonment for defiling a 15 year old girl in Garissa county after he reportedly offered her a ride to a camp located in the county.
According to a statement from the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution ( DPP), the minor was walking to the camp to seek refuge after she was displaced by raging floods in the county when she is encountered the belligerent on a motorcycle.

The suspect who was identified as Yussuf Imani is said to have fled with the girl into a bush where he defiled and thereafter compelled her to clean herself from the stains she sustained from the brazen act with murky water before abandoning her gasping for help.
DPP further said that case was taken to court and prosecuted by Victor Owuor who successfully convinced the court about the matter hence leading to the jailing of the
accused.
On 13 th of November this year a gang of five men gang raped a 13 year old girl after accosting and bundling her into a car and sped off into the bush where they defiled the minor before leaving her for dead.
Cases of sexual assault has been soaring in Garissa county with two to three incidents reported in intervals of two months.
