NAIROBI, KENYA –A workshop organized by the World Bank and led by the Somali Ministry of Finance opened in the capital Nairobi on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Finance Prof. Abdullahi Ali Ibrahim Qaloow, members of the Ministry of Planning of the Central Bank, the Accountant General of the country and a team representing the World Bank.
The workshop will feature presentations on current economic studies conducted by the Ministry of Finance in Somalia, and will teach people how to prepare national financial reports.
The Deputy Minister of Finance, Prof. Qolloow, who opened the conference, spoke to Frontier Online about the workshop.
“The Ministry of Finance is not only leading also a number of agencies led by the Ministry of Planning, especially the Directorate General of Statistics and the Central Bank and the Accountant General.” said the minister.
He also outlined that the program will run for five days. “Many young people, starting with the budget department, are now working together with the help of the World Bank” he said.
The training is scheduled to continue until towards the end of the week, with plans underway to train finance ministry officials across all the regional government in Somalia. .
