MOGADISHU-President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Monday returned to the capital Mogadishu after attending the AUSummit2022 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
“H.E @M_Farmaajo has returned home after the #AUSummit2022 in Addis Ababa. The President delivered a keynote speech on the future of #Somalia’s security transition and engaged with fellow leaders and influential policymakers on achieving sustainable development in Africa” read a statement from his office.

The President who spoke at the summit, delivered an enlightening speech on the future of Somalia’s security transition saying Somali Federal soldiers are ready to take over from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) by December 2023.
“Our pace of progress in securing & stabilizing #Somalia in recent years with support from our African brothers whom I pay tribute to for their selfless sacrifice, means that ?? can now see the light at the end of the tunnel & assume full responsibility of its security by Dec 2023” said the President.

On the margins of the Summit, President Farmajo met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Zambia President where they discussed how to strengthen relationship amongst the countries.

The 35th African Union (AU) Summit formally which concluded on Sunday brought together various heads of State and other dignitaries and deliberated reforming the African Union and implementing the African Union vision for 2063.
The Summit also brought to the fore the challenges facing the continent including extremism, Poverty, Food insecurity and COVID-19.
