MOGADISHU– Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Amb Fei Shengchao has on Monday held meeting with the newly appointed UN Secretary General Special Representative Catriona Laing in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu.
Talks between the two centred on continued enhanced support to Somalia in the facets of peace and development.
The Chinese Embassy in Somalia tweeted that the two officials also compared notes on bolstering international partners efforts including the UN and China.

Ambassador Shengchao praised the progress made the Somali government despite the multiple challenges bedeviling the Horn of Africa Nation.

He said they came into agreement with the UN Special Envoy to continue extending a helping hand to the Federal government in s bid to ensure its success in the pursuit of the elusive peace and stability.
On her part, Mrs. Laing assured the Ambassador of the unwavering commitment by the UN to continue helping Somalia in its quest for peace and development.
The UN Special Representative has in recent days been holding series of meetings and engagements with Federal government leaders and representatives of international partners including ambassadors in a bid to get n understanding of the situation on the ground as she embarks on her term of duty in the Horn of Africa Nation.
