Kenya has beefed up security along its border with Somalia ahead of the upcoming August’s general elections.
North Eastern Regional Commissioner James Kianda announced the security measures that the Kenya government has taken to enhance security along the Kenya-Somalia border.
He made this on July 23 whilst providing updates on security arrangements and situation in three counties.
The counties are Wajir, Garissa, and Mandera counties that border the Horn of Africa Nation.
According to Kianda, the Kenyan government has prioritized these areas following recent cases of insecurity by Al-Shabab militants.
Kenya is expected to go to polls on August 9th .
