Fahad Yassin is allegedly accused of orchestrating the kidnapping of a female Intelligence officer, Ikran Tahlil Farah who was abducted from her house near the Somalia National Intelligence headquarters two months ago and has elicited various reactions from different government and opposition quarters who accused the intelligence agency of planning the murder of the young female spy agent.
However, the intelligence agency denied the claims and said in a statement that Al- Shabaab had killed the female officer but in a quick rejoinder the militant group vehemently distanced themselves from the allegations which led to Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble sacking the former intelligence boss Fahad Yassin Hajji Dahir and replacing him with Bashir Mohamud Kobe.
IIkran Tahlil’s case sparked furore and outrage in the Horn of Africa nation as both the president and Prime minister released different and conflicting statements on appointment and sacking of various government officials.
The latest being a letter of suspension from president Mohamed Farmajo suspending and curtailing the power of the prime minister to appoint and dismiss government officers until the protracted elections are held and castigating Roble for deviating from his mandate.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble in a quick response dismissed President Mohamed Farmaajo decision to suspend his powers, terming it unconstitutional, and said the President has violated the constitution and vowed to continue with his normal duties.
Regional state presidents have called for a truce between the president and the prime minister and said they will meet next week in Garowe, Puntland’s capital to discuss the current standoff between the two heads so as to avert a crisis in the country ravaged by civil wars for decades.
