Veteran Swahili anchor Badi Muhsin is dead,The Swahili maestro was reported to have passed on at his home in Mombasa after short illness.
Muhsin is a legend and nationally acclaimed journalist who made his way back to KBC in 2021 after State broadcaster KBC revamped its news presentation outlook.
The legend journalist made his name in KBC during his prime time career where he rose through ranks to become the best Swahili news anchor, the country has ever produced and lead a bulletin for late retired President Daniel Arap Moi.
It is reported in 2020 the veteran TV anchor underwent surgery to remove stones in his kidney.
Muhsin was born in Kitui and was presented with the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) award in 2011 by retired President Mwai Kibaki, for his long service in journalism.
He was also recognised as one of the best Swahili news anchors by the famed author Wallah Bin Wallah in 2010, in addition to being first runner-up for best Swahili translator award in KBC in 1993.
Muhsin retired a few years back but made a return to the national broadcasting soon after rebranding.
Kitui Governor sent her condolences message to the family of the bereaved veteran journalist Badi Muhsin.
In a tweet posted on her official Twitter handle, Ngilu described Badi as a legend and a son of the soil.
Muhsin hails from Kitui County where he was born and grew up.
Many media personalities in Kenya mourned the death of veteran journalist and termed it as a big blow to the media industry in Kenya.
