Police in Machakos county have launched investigations into the disappearance of a businessman Mohammed Hassan who is said to have been abducted on the 23rd of December by unknown assailants from his shop at the Machakos Junction.
The family is now calling on the government to help them track their kin as those who picked him up are said to have identified themselves as government officials.
Mohammed who is said to have gone missing around 3pm on the 23rd of December from his shop in Machakos county was allegedly taken by individuals who are said to have been patrolling to enforce COVID-19 regulations
“When the individuals came and asked why they were not wearing a mask everyone in the area scattered including Mohammed, but they went after him and grabbed him from inside the shop,” his brother Omar Hassan told Citizen TV.
Omar claims that Mohammed was taken by 4 men in a white double cab pickup from his shop, but to their surprise CCTV footage from an adjacent building showed that it had been stopped recording between 2pm and 5pm on the fateful day.
“The people we spoke to when we went to his shop say that he was taken by 4 men who targeted him.” Omar added.
“The hotel next to his shop say that the CCTV footage was corrupted and that they are unable to view it.”
The family is now calling on the government to intervene. Family members say Hassan should be dealt with according to the law if he has violated any laws
“We are begging the government to intervene and help us find him,” Omar added.
“If he has committed a crime please present him before a court of law if not we are sure that the government has enough resources to help us identify him.”
“It has been very hard for me to talk to my children especially when they ask me where their father is because they have been hearing what people have been saying about his disappearance” Nasteha Hassan, Mohamed’s wife told Citizen TV.
The family reported the matter to the Machakos junction police station where the incident occurred and are waiting for authorities to conclude investigations.
