WAJIR – Humanitarian Expert Mr Hassan Wardere has declared officially that he will vie for Wajir county Senatorial postion come August polls.
This comes just a day after The Ajuran clan in Wajir county which is the third largest single voting block has declared that they will field candidates for the position of Senate and Women representative.
The community grounded their decision on successful consultations through its Ajuran National Council ( ANC) and Ajuran Council of Elders ( ACE) held at Wajir Palace Hotel in Wajir county and extensive community engagement that spanned for months; reiterating it’s willingnes to work with communities and stakeholders in Wajir in seeking the positions come August 2022.
Speaking to Frontier Online on Phone, Wardere said he will contest for senate seat following the elders decision.
He said he is okay with elders decision to reserve the senate and WomenRep position for the community in the county.
“I was the only candidate endorsed by the Ajuran elders in Wajir North & Wajir West few months ago, I wish to take this opportunity to welcome the decision as well congratulate and appreciate the tireless efforts made by both councils in guiding the community in the best possible and also achievable political directions” said Wardere.
Mr Wardere further asked the community to support and uphold the decision of the supreme organ of Ajuran and forge ahead united for a formidable partnership that delivers the expectation of Wajir county residents at large.
Who is Hassan Wardere?
Mr Wardere is an international humanitarian aid worker with over 12 experience managing country programs in different set-ups.
He has worked in five African countries, and four countries in the Middle East, thus gaining extensive experience in leadership and management.
He says Wajir county senate seat deserves an experienced professional who can defend the county at national level.
Wajir County which has three main clans (Degodia, Ogaden, and Ajuran) ostensibly had a mutual agreement in the run-up to 2013 and 2017 that the majority Degodia produces a governor and women representative, leaving the posts of senator and deputy governor to be shared by Ogaden and Ajuran clans.
