MOGADISHU– Somali Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Ibrahim Sheikh Muhiyidin has on Tuesday held meeting with Head of ATMIS, Amb. Souef Mohamed El- Amine at the ATMIS headquarters in the capital Mogadishu.
They discussed wide range of issues including the upcoming second phase of operations against Al-shabab, the ATMIS troop drawdown.
The meeting also covered the Somalia Transition Plan and the current security situation in the country.
The Somali military commander thanked the ATMIS troops for significantly playing a pivotal role in the offensive against insurgency and maintaining peace and stability in the country.
Gen. Muhyidin broadly emphasized the Somali government commitment to eradicating Al-Shabab from the country.
He highlighted that the government troops have made incredible stride in the war against terror calling for the ATMIS forces to jointly collaborate with the soldiers in s bid to combat with counterterrorism.
The Special Envoy of the EU underlined the importance of closer cooperation in the fight against Al-Shabaab hailing the Somali Federal government for its unwavering commitment to eliminate the terror group from the Horn of Africa Nation.

Ambassador El-Amine underscored the ATMIS and African Union commitment to further bolster the war against the Al-qaeda affiliate group.
During his visit at the Headquarters, the Somali military boss interacted separately with the ATMIS FC as well as the heads of UNSOS, Aisa Kirabo Kacyira and ATMIS.
Present in the meeting were the ATMIS Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding and senior officials from both sides.
