MOGADISHU– Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has on Tuesday met with the Acting US Ambassador to Somalia and Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Shane Dixon. They discussed raft of topics of paramount interest to the two countries.
During the meeting in Mogadishu, the two officials also tackled at length the preparations for the impending second phase of the operations against Al-Shabaab across the country.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the Somali Federal government commitment to eradicating Al-Shabab from all corners of the country.
PM Barre thanked the United States Government for the unwavering security and development assistance its rendering to Somalia whilst calling for the heightening of the same.

He highlighted the government progress in the war against Al-Shabaab militant group which has gained momentum across the country as the Somali government forces prepare to wind up on the first phase of operations against the insurgents.
On the other hand, Shane Dixon has commended Somalia for its ongoing counterterrorism operations which he said is a step in the right direction.
Mr. Dixon reiterated his country undertaking to help the Somali government in eliminating the Al-qaeda affiliate group from the Horn of Africa Nation.
