HARGEISA- Somaliland internal security minister Mohamed Kahin Ahmed has termed the ongoing eviction in parts of the country as an legal exercise anchored on the existing laws of the World
Speaking to Horn Cable Tv in the capital Hargeisa, the security minister outlined that the Somaliland government will comply with the established laws of the self-declared State in a bid to ensure that no human rights violation shall be committed by the government in deportation exercise of Foreigners in Sool region.
‘The deported people have been returned to their home country and no contravention of rights that.As I speak now I cannot cross over to Djibouti unless I have proper documentation and clearance from the Djibouti government.” Said Mohamed.
Mr. Kaahin further started that Somalia and Somaliland Are two independent countries and the people being evicted from Norther regions are being returned to their country, Somalia.
Somaliland government announced repatriation of all people believed to be from the larger Somalia as police officers in the capital, Hargeisa embarked on evicting citizens from Ethiopia who have illegally entered the city and taking them back to their original country.
Somalia has accused the breakaway Somaliland state of forcefully hundreds of people from the Southern region with the United Nations (UN) warning of unprecedented brewing humanitarian crisis.The Southern larger Somalia has been embroiled in a long term dispute with the Northern over historical indifferences.
Somaliland has been locked in decades of long standoff with Somalia since the collapse of the late president Siyad Barre in 1991 and has declared itself an independent country although no foreign power has recognized her sovereignty amid rejection from the Moqadishu based fragile central government.
