MOGADISHU– Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abshir Omar Jama has on Wednesday received credentials from the newly appointed United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP) to Somalia Lionel Laurens.
They discussed the long-standing partnership between Somalia and the UNDP, State- building , peace and stability and economic recovery.
Laurens reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to further advancing the agency’s support to Somalia.

He expressed his delight to start serving in this role to help the Horn of Africa Nation realise prosperity and development.
Minister Jama highlighted the importance of collaboration between the UN agency and Somalia government in building resilience, fight against poverty and climate change.
Laurens, a French national, takes up the role after serving for four years as UNDP’s Resident Representative in Zambia.
